Open or Closed Is the Whole Decision

Knitwear presents itself as a category with a hundred variables. Fiber content, gauge, neck shape, body length, cuff depth, color. In practice one variable outranks every other one, and it is whether the front opens.

A pullover is a commitment for the length of the day. Once it is on it stays on, and removing it in a room full of people means pulling it over your head and then repairing whatever was underneath. A cardigan is adjustable. It opens at the front, so heat comes off in stages, and it goes back on without disturbing a collar or a part in your hair.

Almost everything else follows from that one fact. A pullover has to be correct for the temperature you expect to sit in, because there is no correcting it at three in the afternoon. A cardigan can be a few degrees wrong and still earn its place, which is why a cardigan can be heavier, looser, or worn over something it was never obviously planned for.

That split is how the range here is organized, and which side a piece sits on is the first thing stated about it.

Gauge, and What It Actually Changes

Gauge is the count of stitches packed into an inch of knit. It is the closest thing knitwear has to a number that predicts behavior, and it almost never appears on a label.

Fine gauge lies close to the body, holds a smooth surface, and stays wearable through a long stretch in a heated room. Mid gauge carries visible stitch texture and enough body to hold a line at the shoulder without collapsing. Chunky gauge is a separate proposition altogether: heavy, insulating, and suited to rooms that are genuinely cold rather than merely cool.

Our stock sits across the fine and middle bands of that scale, in both pullovers and cardigans. Those bands cover the hours men actually spend in a sweater, which are indoor hours in buildings heated to somewhere between comfortable and slightly too warm. Each piece carries its own gauge description and a measurement set taken from the garment itself.

What Happens Between Your Order and the Carrier

An order placed before 5:00 PM EST on a business day joins that day’s queue. Before anything is folded, the piece is checked against the order and looked over for the two problems knitwear picks up in storage: a pulled thread along a seam, and a shoulder that has been crushed flat by whatever sat on top of it.

Knits are folded for shipping and never hung. A folded sweater arrives with creases that hang out overnight. A sweater that traveled on a hanger arrives with two hard points at the shoulder that a wash does not always remove.

No return label goes into the box, and that is deliberate. If a piece has to go back, one email brings a prepaid label to your inbox within 1 business day, which keeps a document nobody needed out of every package that worked out fine.
